Serval Wildlife is an ethical rescue-and-rehabilitation sanctuary set on a green estate near Usa River, on the plains between Mount Meru and Kilimanjaro. It began as a refuge for servals - the tall, elegant, spotted cats that are notoriously hard to spot in the wild - and has grown into a home for lions, caracals, giraffes, zebras, elands and other rescued or orphaned animals. A guided visit puts you closer to African wildlife than any game drive can: you walk the grounds with a keeper, hand-feed the gentle grazers, and meet the cats at close range while learning how each animal came to be here. It is a calm, feel-good half-day, popular with families and photographers, and an easy add-on to a day in Arusha National Park.
