Marangu Waterfalls

About the Park

Welcome to Marangu Waterfalls

Marangu is a lush Chagga town on Kilimanjaro’s southeastern foothills, best known as the gateway to the mountain’s Marangu route - but it is also a green, waterfall-laced day trip in its own right. Fed by the mountain’s meltwater, a series of falls tumble through banana plantations and coffee gardens, the prettiest reached by short walks along shaded forest paths. Between the falls you can explore Chagga culture: old underground tunnels once used for shelter, traditional homesteads, and the coffee that thrives in this rich volcanic soil. Cool, easy and photogenic, Marangu pairs naturally with a coffee experience and sits close enough to Moshi for a relaxed half or full day.
